Description

Biopsy refers to the process of extracting a tissue sample from any part of the body for its examination. Similarly, pleural biopsy means removal or obtaining of pleural tissue from pleura (a membrane that lines the lungs and chest cavity). This biopsy is demanded when the pleural fluid, extracted through the process of pleural aspiration, suggests any sign of infection, cancer or tuberculosis or x-ray report indicates any pleural based tumor or pleura thickening.
